Our Story
Founded in Helsinki in 1919, Kirjavälitys Osakeyhtiö - Bokspedition Aktiebolaget was established by major founding shareholders Otava, WSOY, Suomalainen Kirjakauppa, Akateeminen Kirjakauppa, and Koulutarpeiden Keskusliike.
The primary goal of the founders was to create a shared distribution company for the book industry in Finland, modeled after a similar entity in Sweden. During the 1930s, Kirjavälitys expanded its operations to include wholesale activities.
In 2022, we expanded our facilities in Hyvinkää with a new warehouse wing named the Salojärvi Warehouse, in honor of Pekka Salojärvi, the CEO of Gummerus Kustannus (1940-2021).
In May 2024, we rebranded. Kirjavälitys became Storia Oy. For over a hundred years, we have been the best partner for publishers, bookstores, schools, and libraries. This dedication to our existing customers remains unchanged. However, looking forward, we aim to serve retailers, importers, and manufacturers of various products across different industries, making the name change timely and relevant.
Today, our gaze is set firmly on the future, and we are excited about what the Storia era will bring. Our 192 employees serve you from our state-of-the-art logistics centers in Hyvinkää and Keuruu, backed by over 100 years of experience. We offer 23,700 m² of warehouse space, 30,500 pallet slots, and 10 km of picking shelves. In 2023, our revenue was €107.9 million.
Welcome to Storia Oy, where our storied past meets a bright future.
